‘Udaipur Files’ incites religious tension : Claims Arshad Madani

New Delhi – Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has filed petitions in the High Courts of Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra against the upcoming film ‘Udaipur Files : Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder’, alleging that it defames the Muslim community and creates religious tension in the country. The film was scheduled to be released in theatres across India on 11th July 2025.

1. On 5th July 2025, Jamiat President Arshad Madani made a controversial statement, revealing that Jamiat has filed legal petitions in the abovementioned High Courts.

2. Jamiat has previously been accused of defending terrorists. It allegedly supported the accused in cases such as the 2006 Malegaon blast, Mumbai local train blasts, 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the 2011 Mumbai triple blasts, and others, including the Mulund and Gateway of India blasts.

3. Madani objected to the trailer, claiming it contains offensive remarks about Prophet Muhammad and his wife, which he said could disturb national peace and law and order. (Why does law and order get disturbed only when Muslim sentiments are hurt, but not when Hindu Deities are denigrated or their temples attacked ? Will the so-called secularists answer this ? – Editor)

Editorial Perspectives

  • Where are the advocates of freedom of expression hiding now ?
  • When fanatic Muslims openly murder a Hindu and even film and circulate the video, it’s not considered ‘inciting religious tension’. But making a film about this incident suddenly becomes an issue ! This exposes Jamiat’s implicit support for such murders.
  • It has also been revealed that Jamiat receives money from Halal certification, which is allegedly used to fund legal defence for terrorists. This makes a case that Jamiat should be banned.
  • When fanatic Muslims attack Hindus and temples during Muharram processions, is it meant to promote peace and religious harmony ? Why do Madani or other Islamic leaders not oppose such violence ?
