Indians boycott Turkey and Azerbaijan for aligning with Pakistan

New Delhi – At the time of ‘Operation Sindoor’, Azerbaijan released a statement that echoed Pakistan’s position on the conflict, while Turkey backed Islamabad’s demand for an international investigation into the Pahalgam attack. Turkey has also supplied weapons to Pakistan in the past. Lately, the number of Indian tourists visiting these two countries had increased a lot. Now the possibility is that both, the trade and tourism, will decline. Last year, because of Indian tourists these two countries had earned Rs 4,000 crore.

1. Travel agents are dissuading tourists from visiting Turkey and Azerbaijan. Before this, Pune businessmen had decided not to buy apples from Turkey.

2. ‘Goa Villas’, a tourism company, has decided not to provide accommodation in Goa to Turkish citizens in Goa. Udaipur’s marble businessmen have decided not to buy Turkish marble.

3. Indians choose Turkey for weddings. In 2022, nearly 1,000 weddings were organised in Turkey. Maximum couples were from India. Now, this may decline too.
