Panaji, Goa – At an event organized by ‘Samajonnati Sanghatana’ at the Menezes Braganza Hall in Panaji to commemorate Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, so-called progressive and known Sanatan critic Jawahar Barve launched ignorant attacks on Sanatan Sanstha. Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, who was also present on stage, rebutted Barve’s statements then and there. When Barve shamelessly continued to speak against Sanatan again, Dhavalikar walked out of the program.
Barve claimed: “Divorced women are staying at Sanatan’s ashram !”

Referring to an incident from 1997, Barve shared an anecdote from his long-standing opposition to Sanatan Sanstha, claiming that “some women living in Sanatan’s ashrams are divorcees.” He admitted that this was based on hearsay.
Following Barve, Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar gave a speech as the chief guest. While speaking about Dr. Ambedkar and the Constitution, he took the opportunity to firmly counter Barve’s baseless claims.
“I’ve been observing Sanatan’s work for the last 25 years!” – Dhavalikar

Dhavalikar stated, “Jawahar Barve knows nothing about Sanatan Sanstha. By labelling the women living in their ashram as ‘divorcees’, he has insulted them. There is a Sanatan ashram in my own constituency, and I’ve been witnessing their spiritual work for 25 years. Honestly, this platform was not meant for such discussions, but since Barve spoke, I had to respond. I apologize to all of you for bringing up this issue – though not to the organizers. Look at Sanatan’s work with an open mind. Don’t hate them blindly. Barve has no idea what he’s talking about. On May 17, Sanatan is holding a grand program at the Goa Engineering College grounds in Farmagudi, expected to draw a crowd of 100,000.”
“I cannot share the stage with those who defame Sanatan” – Dhavalikar walks outDhavalikar, after thanking Shambhu Bhau Bandekar for inviting him to the event, took his seat. But when Barve stood up again and resumed his tirade against Sanatan, Dhavalikar declared, “I cannot remain in a program with someone who spreads misinformation about Sanatan Sanstha,” and walked out. |
Dhavalikar also objects to criticism of the Chief Minister
When another speaker criticized Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant over issues related to the village of Mayem, Dhavalikar also raised an objection: “As long as I’m present, I won’t tolerate any criticism of the Chief Minister,” he said.
