Conspiracy to grab land on a large scale in Mumbai, Bhayander, Navi Mumbai, Vasai and Virar using mosques

  • BJP leader Kirit Somaiya writes a letter to the Chief Minister demanding strict regulations and action

  • If the loudspeakers are not removed within 48 hours, BJP will take to the streets : Kirit Somaiya

Mumbai –‘A conspiracy to grab land by committing large-scale Land Jihad in the name of mosques is going on in Mumbai, Bhayandar, Navi Mumbai, Vasai, Virar, Kalyan, Dombivli and Panvel. Unauthorized houses, huts, chawls, and additional construction are being done in the name of mosques. In many places, unauthorized construction is done on Government land, grounds, green belts, or mangroves near the sea, and it is being called a mosque. Loudspeakers are also installed on it; but for most such mosques, the concerned persons do not take permission for loudspeakers from the Police or municipal corporation. If land grabbing is going on in the name of mosques, construction is being done in open Government land or in ‘No Development Zone’, CRZ (Coastal Regulation Area), then strict steps should be taken in this regard.Strict regulations should be issued, and criminal action should be taken against the culprits,’ demanded BJP leader Kirit Somaiya in a letter to the Chief Minister. He has also given information about 25 unauthorized mosques and loudspeakers in Ghatkopar and Bhandup. (Why the Police or the administration cannot get this information on their own ? – Editor) Somaiya also warned that if the loudspeakers are not removed within 48 hours, the BJP will take to the streets. (Why is such a warning required ? Why does the administration not work on this issue on its own? – Editor).

Important points from the letter :

1. In the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister had announced action regarding Police permission to loudspeakers on mosques, as well as noise pollution caused by the sound of loudspeakers, public complaints, and Police permission given to unauthorized mosques.

2. In the last 2 months, I have visited Police stations in Mumbai like Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli (Park Site), Ghatkopar (West) etc. in this regard.

3. I visited Ghatkopar (West) Police station. At that time, the Police officials said that no permission has been given to any mosque from our area to use loudspeakers. We objected to it. After telling that if loudspeakers are installed on a mosque, Police permission must be sought, representatives of 33 mosques applied for permission at the Police station in the next 4 days. The situation in most other Police stations and mosques is similar. (The Police are not aware of this or they have deliberately ignored it ? Action should be taken against such officers – Editor).

4. While giving permission, the Police give permission for 30 days at a time, from 6 a.m. till 10 p.m. This permission is renewed every 30 days; however, while giving permission, the Police do not inquire about any kind of evidence, ownership of the mosque, authorization, whether it is a mosque or an illegal construction made up of some rooms. (Do the Police not inquire deliberately ? – Editor)

5. The loudspeakers installed on these mosque are directed outwards, meaning that the sound is meant to be heard by the people around. Complaints regarding these loudspeakers are not even recorded.

6. The loudness of sound of these loudspeakers is never verified. Neither the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board nor its officials investigate this noise pollution, nor take any action. (The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board only pays attention to the pollution caused by Hindu festivals and takes action only against Hindus – Editor).
