Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar resolves to make Karnataka an 'AI-native' State !
(AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. AI-native refers to a centre for AI-based innovation and development.)

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – At the Google I/O Connect India 2026 event held in Bengaluru, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced the establishment of the country’s first Government AI University.

The key objectives of this initiative are as follows:
1. State development: To make Karnataka an AI-native State by effectively using AI technology in the fields of administration, education, healthcare and agriculture, thereby improving public services.
2. Solution to traffic congestion: To find effective solutions to Bengaluru’s increasing traffic congestion, caused by its growing population, with the help of AI technology.
3. Technology hub: To develop Karnataka into a strong global technology hub by promoting AI research and expanding infrastructure for data centres and cloud computing (internet-based computing services such as data storage, servers, databases, networking and software).
4. Collaboration: The Government aims to develop the next generation of AI talent through collaboration among educational institutions, industry and the Government.
