Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison confirms sharing of information with ‘The Washington Post’
Ottawa (Canada) – On 29th October, Canada’s Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison alleged in a parliamentary committee that India’s Home Minister Amit Shah was behind a plot to target Sikh separatists in Canada. This is the first time a Canadian minister has openly named an Indian minister. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian High Commissioner to Canada have yet to respond to this issue; however, the Indian Government has previously dismissed all such allegations from Canada as baseless, denying any involvement.

On 14th October, The Washington Post, citing Canadian officials, reported that Home Minister Amit Shah and the Indian intelligence agency ‘RAW’ had jointly authorised intelligence gathering and attacks on Khalistani terrorists in Canada.
According to CBC News, David Morrison appeared before the Public Safety and National Security Committee, where MP Raquel Dancho questioned him on how this information reached ‘The Washington Post’.
To this, Morrison responded, “I deliberately chose ‘The Washington Post’. We wanted an international outlet that could convey Canada’s information. So, we selected a journalist with extensive experience on the topic, who has written about it multiple times. I informed ‘The Washington Post’ that India’s Home Minister was involved in this matter. The journalist from ‘The Washington Post’ asked me if it was indeed Amit Shah. I said, “Yes, it’s him.” (This incident can be summed up as ‘adding fuel to fire.’ For The Washington Post, known for its anti-India stance, this was an opportunity to further lash out against India – Editor)
