Vijayapura (Karnataka) – Notices have been sent to 41 farmers of Honawada village in Tikota taluka of Vijayapura District that their land belongs to the Waqf Board. The total land is approximately 1,200-acre. After the farmers protested against these notices, H.K. Patil, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister of the Congress Government in Karnataka, said that the issued notices will be withdrawn. The Government has no intention of converting farmers’ land into Waqf Board property and if any mistake has been made in this regard, it will be rectified. Action will also be taken against those responsible.

Minister Patil further said that the Deputy Commissioner of the District will investigate this. It will take two days to initiate action to withdraw the notices sent. Out of 1,200-acre, only 11-acre land is Waqf property. A task force headed by the Deputy Commissioner will be formed to resolve the issue.
