Tehran (Iran) / Tel Aviv (Israel) – On the night of 1st October, Iran launched 180 ballistic missiles toward Israel. However, most were intercepted by Israel’s “Iron Dome” anti-missile defence system. A few missiles managed to breach the defence and struck various locations in Israel. One of these missiles landed near the headquarters of Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency. Israel reported that one person was killed in the attack. The Iranian missiles also targeted Israel’s air force bases at Nevatim and Tel Nof. Iran claimed that the strike destroyed several Israeli F-15 fighter jets. Following the attack, Israel urged its citizens to evacuate to safety, leading many to seek shelter in bunkers. Israel’s army stated, “We will not leave Iran’s attacks unanswered. These attacks will surely be retaliated against. We will choose the time and place for it ourselves.”
The Iranian Government justified the attack as retaliation for the alleged Israeli assassinations of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and Abbas Nilforoushan, the deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

We have responded to Israel’s aggression : Iran
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian commented on the attack, stating, “We have responded to Israel’s aggression. This was necessary for Iran’s interests and to protect its citizens.”
Iran has made a big mistake : Benjamin Netanyahu
After Iran’s attack, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said, ”Iran has made a big mistake by firing missiles at us. So, it should now be ready for the consequences. Iran will have to pay a heavy price for this attack. Whoever attacks us, we will respond to the attack. We have repelled the Iranian attack. This failed attack will soon be retaliated against.” He also warned that Israel’s response to Iran would be similar to its actions against Hamas and Hezbollah.
US supports Israel
On the other hand, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris held a meeting with the National Security Forces. Biden subsequently ordered the US military to assist in protecting Israel from further Iranian attacks. He stated, “We are currently gathering information. According to the information that we have received so far, Iran’s attack on Israel appears to have been defeated and ineffective, and this is a testament to Israeli military capability and the US military.”
Crude oil prices rise after Iran’s attack
Iran’s attack on Israel has caused crude oil prices to rise by nearly 3%. In the international market, Global Benchmark Brent Crude increased by 2.6% (or $1.86) to $73.56 per barrel (Rs 6,179), while West Texas Intermediate Crude rose by 2.4% (or $1.66) to $69.83 per barrel. This escalation has also led to declines in several global stock markets.
Petrol-diesel prices are likely to rise in India
An increase in crude oil prices on the international market typically impacts petrol and diesel prices in India. As a result, oil distributors in India may raise fuel prices.
