EAM Dr S Jaishankar slams China
Tokyo (Japan) – “Our relations with China are not doing very well. The main reason for that is in 2020, during the COVID, China brought very large forces to the border areas, violating the agreements we had with China. This problem has not been resolved yet. We wish to have good neighbourly relations with China. It is possible only when China respects the Line of Actual Control (LAC). China should respect the agreements signed earlier. Unless China changes its viewpoint, relations with India will not improve,” stated India’s Minister for External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar while slamming China. Dr Jaishankar was speaking to the media before the meeting of Quad countries (India, US, Japan and Australia) here.
An important meeting took place between the Indian EAM Dr S Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi, in Laos, a neighbour country of Thailand, on 25thJuly. The leaders discussed the Indo-China border dispute. Dr Jaishankar told the Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister to respect the LAC and earlier agreements. Dr Jaishankar told Wan Yi, that stable relations are in the interest of both the countries. Border dispute is the main reason why these relations cannot be restored. The situation at the border will reflect in our relationship.
