Hanuman Jayanti procession attacked by fanatic Muslims in Nepal

Birganj (Bihar) – Raxaul, East Bihar, Champaran Dist, is close to Indo-Nepal border. Birganj in Nepal is close to Raxaul. On 12th of April Muslim fanatics attacked Hanuman Jayanti procession in Birganj. They vandalised the place and there was arson. Raxaul-Birganj border is closed in India and Nepal.

1. A Hanuman Jayanti procession was taken out in Chhapkiya area in the Birganj metropolis. Suddenly bricks and stones started raining from the roof tops injuring several people. The situation worsened and the mob turned violent. Several shops and vehicles were set on fire. About 50 people including policemen were injured in this violence.

2. The Police used tear gas shells to control the riot. In view of the seriousness of the situation Nepal Administration imposed curfew.

3. Many Raxaul residents have business in Birganj, many are stranded in Birganj because of the violence. They have closed shops and are hiding wherever they could.

Editorial Perspective

Muslim population has increased by a large number at Indo-Nepal border and their nuisance is evident. India should take stern action against it.
