3 Jihadi terrorists arrested in UP

  • 2 of them are Pakistani while 1 is from Kashmir
  • Planned attacks in the country during election season

Maharajganj (Uttar Pradesh) – Three terrorists including two hailing from Pakistan and one from the Kashmir valley have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh after they crossed the border from Nepal. They were on way to Jammu and Kashmir for subversive activities during Lok Sabha elections. Arrested terrorists are affiliated to the terrorist organisation ‘Hizbul Mujahideen’ and Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. After their arrest, a high alert has been issued along the Indo-Nepal border.

The Police have stated that in recent months, information had been received regarding the possible involvement of Pakistani nationals, along with other terrorists, in sending further terrorists to India. These terrorists could potentially carry out attacks during the elections, according to the information. Training was also provided to some of them by the Hizbul Mujahideen group based in Pakistan. Enquiry of these individuals is currently underway.
