Blasts near French President Macron’s Damascus hotel during Syria visit; 3 killed

Damascus (Syria) – Four bomb blasts occurred in succession in Syria’s capital, Damascus, on 7th July, killing 3 people. The blasts took place in the vicinity of the Four Seasons Hotel while French President Emmanuel Macron was at the Presidential Palace to meet Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Emmanuel Macron had left the hotel barely 25 minutes earlier. No organisation has so far claimed responsibility for the incident. The security agencies are investigating the matter. This is the first visit by a European leader since the formation of the new Government in Syria.
