Edinburgh, Scotland – A new hate crime law has come into force in Scotland. The law has been enacted to deal with hate crime. This law will protect the affected communities, the Scottish Government said. Under this law, action will be taken against those who show disrespect based on prejudice against age, disability, religion, and gender. Siobhian Brown, Scotland’s Minister for Community Security said, the Government is committed to ensure that no one lives in fear and have a safe community free of prejudices.

J K Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, and the famous industrialist Elon Musk have criticised this new law, saying, this law will curb freedom of expression.
