Chairman of Tamil Nadu Waqf Board should be investigated for abuse of office

Sufi Islamic Board’s demand to the Union Finance Minister

Chennai – The Sufi Islamic Board of the State has written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) demanding an inquiry of the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board chairman Abdul Rahman for abuse of office.

The Sufi Islamic Board submitted in the letter that since the beginning of 2022, information about the construction of a medical college and hospital at Veppur in Tiruchi under the leadership of Abdul Rehman is available in the public domain. Abdul Rahman is misusing his public position to bring funds in the name of this medical college. This is the ransom money, which is around Rs 300 crore. For this, Rahman has held meetings in many places in the State. Rehman has also collected money from abroad without permission.

A case was registered against Abdul Rehman in September 2022 for insulting the tricolour. Ajmal Khan has filed a complaint in this regard.

The Sufi Board alleged that Abdul Rehman also acts as a money broker for political parties. He approaches political parties to get black money and make it white. For this, he has run an organisation called ‘Kaide Millat Tamil Peravai’

Editorial Perspective

Why should there be a need to make such a demand ? The devout citizens expect the Government to do this on its own.
