India, while competing with China, spoilt its relations with neighbouring countries; do not blame us now – China’s mouthpiece Global Times

Beijing (China) – ‘A few Indian leaders, referring to Maldives President Muizzu as pro-China, shows a lack of confidence in them. India spoilt its relations with neighbouring countries while competing with China. Now it should not blame China for the same’, criticised Chinese Government’s mouthpiece ‘The Global Times’. Maldives President Muizzu is currently visiting China. ‘The Global Times’ also claimed that ‘China never asked Maldives to keep distance from India, nor did it consider relations between the Maldives and India as a threat to China.’

‘Global Times’ further said,

President Muizzu does not favour either India or China. He need not do so; in fact, he is giving priority to safeguarding his country’s interests. India is trying to put pressure on him by calling him, a supporter of China. China is interested in trilateral cooperation with India and Maldives. India should think generously and be more open-minded. India wanted to maintain its influence in this region. Maldives and other neighbouring countries followed suit and kept away from China. India should know that South Asian countries cannot ignore China.

China’s relations with its neighbouring countries are strained, not India’s. China is not friends with any country. It is an open secret that China’s closeness to some countries is due to its own selfish purpose. Therefore, India should firmly ask China to introspect instead of pointing fingers at India.
