Complaint at Dadar Police Station regarding offensive remarks about Hindu Dharma

Devout Hindus arrived to lodge complaint
Mumbai – Devout Hindus have called for the registration of a ‘hate speech’ case against several individuals, including Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Karnataka Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge, DMK MP from Tamil Nadu A Raja, NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad, and Journalist Nikhil Wagle who backed Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement on Facebook. These individuals publicly compared Sanatan Dharma to diseases such as dengue, malaria, corona, AIDS, and leprosy, discussing its eradication. On the 2nd October, devout Hindus filed a formal complaint at the Shivaji Park Police Station in Dadar regarding this matter.
NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad has also made a statement that “Sanatan Dharma is a pest destroying society.” The complaint highlights that making indecent, slanderous, and insulting statements about any religion, which hurts religious sentiments, is punishable under IPC Sections 153 (a), 153 (b), 295 (a), 298, 505, and the IT Act. Consequently, the complaint strongly urges the immediate arrest of those responsible for making hateful statements about Hindu Dharma. In response, the Police have taken note of the incident and provided assurance of further action.
Directives from the Supreme Court to Government for self-registration of offenses
The complaint further highlights that, in the ongoing public interest litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court concerning ‘hate speech’, on 28th of April, Justice KM Joseph and Justice BV Nagarathna issued a directive. They instructed the Government to proactively initiate the registration of cases, without waiting for anyone to file a complaint, against individuals who propagate hatred in society through their hateful statements. The Court made it explicitly clear that any delay in doing so would be viewed as contempt of the Supreme Court. However, despite these instructions, no action has been taken to register cases against those responsible for spreading hateful speech about Sanatan Dharma.
… Otherwise, will file a petition for contempt of Supreme Court
The complaint asserts that if the Police do not take suitable action, a petition for contempt of the Supreme Court will be initiated.
Hate speech by Udhayanidhi Stalin
At the book launch event featuring cartoons on the topic of “RSS’ Contribution to India’s Freedom Struggle”, held at Kamaraj stadium in Chennai, Udhayanidhi Stalin made hateful statements saying, “a few things cannot be opposed, that should be abolished only. We can’t oppose dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or corona. We have to eradicate this, that’s how we have to eradicate Sanatana (Dharma)”.
