New Delhi – A conflict between Christian Kuki terrorists and Hindu Maitei community has been going on for the past one and half months. It pacified for a while but flared up again in the last two days. Violent activities were observed in the Khamenlok village. On the night of 13th June, the Kuki terrorists attacked a Maitei majority area, which killed 9 and injured 10. The attackers allegedly possessed advanced weapons. Internet service has been suspended in the State till 15th June.
People of the Kuki community are trying to set up camps in the Maitei community’s area in Phougakchao Ikhai village. Due to this, an exchange of gunfire broke out between the Kuki terrorists and the security forces.

Convenor of the ‘North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently reviewed the violence in Manipur. He is going to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and give him an overview of the situation.
It has also come to light that Kuki terrorists are using drones to locate Maitei people. These drones were found by the residents of Phoigkachao Ikhai village in Bishnupur District.
100+ people have been killed and 320 injured in the violence so far, while 47,000 people had to take shelter in the relief camps.
