PIL filed in the Allahabad High Court against allowing Muslim men to practice polygamy

The Court issues notice to the Centre

Lakhimpur (UP) – A PIL has been filed challenging the ‘Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act of 1937’ in the Allahabad High Court. The PIL filed by the ‘Hindu Personal Law Board’ has objected to the constitutional validity of Section 494 IPC. The PIL demands that polygamy among Muslim men be prohibited.

Editorial viewpoint

Why should Courts spend their time on such issues ? Nationalist citizens feel that the Uniform Civil Code should have been implemented by now !
