According to a news channel, some people of the Barelvi Muslim community are operating in the forests of Uttarakhand under ‘Land Mazar Jihad’. These people stack stones to make mazar and then coat these stone piles with lime, in the forests. A white and blue cloth sheet is thrown over it and green flags are planted on the surrounding trees. After that, they light the incense and start the business. Gradually these graves take on a larger form. The Forest Department demolished the alleged mazar of Hazrat Roshan Shah built in the forest. Officials of the Forest Department said that many illegal mazars have been constructed in the reserved forest area. This was the third major drive by the Forest Department to remove illegal mazars in Dehradun District. Two months ago, 24 mazars were removed by the Dehradun Forest Department.
