Varanasi (UP) – The university administration has issued an order to ban Holi celebration at the Banaras Hindu University. It also said that action will be taken against those who defy this order. This order is being protested. On 3rd March 2023, students celebrated Holi on the university campus. On this occasion, a ‘DJ’ (orchestral band) was arranged and the students played with colours. 1. Student Unions are opposing the order not to play Holi. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad President Abhay Singh said that Banaras Hindu University is one of the leading educational institutions in the country. If students are not allowed to play Holi here, where else will they be allowed ?
2. Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Sudhir Jain hosted the Iftar party on 26th April 2022. In this context, the students are asking if the Iftar party can be organised in the university campus, then why not Holi ?
Editorial viewpoint
If the Hindu festival is to be banned then festivals of other religions should also be banned ! Even after having word ‘Hindu’ in its name, if university is making anti-Hindu rules then there will be opposition ! |
