Pakistan criticises the move
When will India derive inspiration from Sri lanka ?
Colombo (Sri Lanka) – The Sri Lankan Cabinet has approved the proposal to ban face coverings in all public places citing a threat to the national security. The decision was taken two years after a wave of coordinated terror attacks on hotels and churches in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Saad Khattak criticised the move to ban the wearing of burqa in the country. In a tweet he said, “such divisive steps will only hurt the sentiments of Muslims in Sri Lanka and the entire world”. (Every nation has the right to take measures to safeguard its national security. Rather than criticising Sri Lanka, it would be better if Pakistan demonstrated the courage to criticise Jihadi terrorist activities. Pakistan ought to bring an end to the Jihadi terrorist activities in their country ! – Editor)
