Doctors at Delhi’s AIIMS, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital test COVID-19 positive despite two doses of the vaccine

New Delhi – Thirty doctors at AIIMS Hospital and 37 doctors at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here have tested positive for Covid-19 despite having received both doses of the vaccine. Out of the 37 infected doctors of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 5 doctors have been admitted to the hospital and 32 doctors have been kept in home isolation.

Discussing this issue, AIIMS Hospital Director Randeep Guleria said, “Vaccination can provide you immunity. It cannot protect you from infection. The effectiveness of Corona vaccine is 70 to 80 %. This implies that around 20 to 30% people may be infected by Covid-19 despite vaccination. It is therefore essential to wear mask, maintain social distance and take appropriate precautions.”
