Petition in the name of 1st Jain Tirthankar Rishabha Deva and Shri Vishnu filed by H.H. (Adv.) Hari Shankar Jain
Muslims do not offer Namaz in this mosque since it was built on the remains of temples !
Qutub Minar is actually a Dhruva Stambha built by Varahamihir !
Demand that the Government should rebuild the temples
New Delhi – A petition has been filed in Delhi’s Saket Court demanding the shifting of ‘Quwwat-Ul-Islam Masjid’ in the Qutub Minar complex that was built after demolishing 27 Hindu and Jain temples on the orders of Mohammed Ghori’s slave-general Qutubuddin. The evidence of this is already available. Hence, the petition filed by H.H. (Adv.) Hari Shankar Jain on behalf of 1st Jain Tirthankar Rishabha Dev and Shri Vishnu, asks that the temples be rebuilt and permission be granted to worship 25 Deities there. The petition was heard by the Hon’ble Court on 8th December, during which the Bench said that the evidence mentioned has to be examined at length. The next hearing will be on 24th December.
More aspects from H.H. (Adv.) Hari Shankar Jain
The mosque is not used for offering prayers since it contains the Idols and remnants of the temples. Qutubuddin built the mosque in 1192 A.D. However, Muslims have never offered namaz there since it was built with the columns, walls and part of the ceiling of a temple which also had the Idols of Hindu Deities on it. These can still be seen in the mosque.
The place referred to as Mehrauli today, was known as ‘Mihiravali’ in the earlier times. The renowned mathematician Varahamihir, one of the nine jewels of the 4th Century King Vikramaditya had established the area. An avid student of astronomy, he built the tall tower which is referred to as Qutub Minar. The tower was known as ‘Dhruva Stambha’ or ‘Meru Stambha’, but the Muslim invaders renamed it Qutub Minar.
The Archaeological Department survey also iterates that the mosque was built after demolishing Hindu and Jain temples.
The Government did not give a chance to Hindus and Jains to submit their arguments even after being presented with the history of the mosque. The land does not belong to the Waqf Board, nor has anyone laid a claim on it. The place is under Government control. The Government should rebuild the temples and establish a Trust for their maintenance.
