India will not tolerate atrocities against minorities or any affront to their religious sentiments !

New Delhi – The Government of Bangladesh must rein in the extremist elements operating in the country. Protecting Hindus and other minority communities living there is a constitutional responsibility of the Bangladeshi Government. India will not tolerate atrocities against minorities or any affront to their religious sentiments, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said while addressing a press conference.
The construction of an 81-foot-tall Murti of Shriram in Gaibandha, Bangladesh, has been halted due to opposition from religious fanatic Muslims. The incident has hurt the sentiments of Hindus worldwide. Members of the local Hindu community took to the streets and organised a torchlight procession to register their strong protest. Taking serious note of the matter, India issued the above warning to Bangladesh.
The international human rights organisation Justice Makers Bangladesh in France has also strongly condemned the incident, stating that such actions are completely contrary to Bangladesh’s own Constitution and internationally recognised human rights norms.
