“While the world’s technology sector is advancing rapidly, the Union Govt is making IITs conduct research on astrology, rebirth and similar subjects” : K’taka HM Priyank Kharge

Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge criticised the Union Government, claiming that while the global technology sector is advancing rapidly in areas such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, advanced semiconductors and deep technology, India’s premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are being made to conduct research on subjects such as rebirth, astrology and cow science.

He further claimed that the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allocated ₹98 crore for research on “cowpathy” (the science of cow-based products). He alleged that prestigious IITs across the country are teaching mythology in the name of science and described this as a matter of concern.

He said there was nothing wrong with studying India’s history, traditions or ancient knowledge systems; however, the real problem was the official institutionalisation of what he described as pseudoscience and superstition. (Is it not itself unscientific to dismiss India’s ancient knowledge systems as superstition without evidence? What scientific basis is there for describing these knowledge systems as pseudoscience? – Editor)

Kharge further alleged that such tendencies are quietly entering prestigious IITs and would hinder the country’s scientific progress.

Editorial Perspective

If ancient knowledge from Hindu Dharma is being studied at a scientific level, it is welcome. These very IITs are also carrying out advanced research in fields such as semiconductors and many others. However, it is hardly surprising that Kharge and his Congress party, afflicted with hatred towards Hindu Dharma, regard Hindu scriptures as outdated !
