Islamabad (Pakistan) – Videos circulating on social media purportedly show terrorists of the terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba attending the funeral of Shahid Akhtar, the elder brother of former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar. It has been claimed that Saifullah Kasuri, deputy chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba, along with certain leaders associated with the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), was present at the funeral. However, these claims could not be independently verified.
Saifullah Kasuri was involved in the conspiracy behind the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. The PMML has long faced allegations that it serves as the political platform for individuals associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba.
So far, neither Shoaib Akhtar nor any member of his family has issued an official statement regarding the controversy. On the other hand, the Government of Pakistan has also not made any statement regarding the videos.
