Nineteenth SAARC Council to be held in Pakistan postponed due to non-cooperation of Maldives

New Delhi – There was a proposal to organise the Nineteenth SAARC Council in Pakistan; but Maldives supported India by stopping this proposal. Before this, SAARC Council was stopped in year 2016. That year, Pakistan was the convenor of this council, but Indian army in Uri was attacked by Pak-backed terrorists. For this reason, India boycotted the SAARC Council. Other countries had also decided not to join the SAARC Council supporting India.

Maldives Foreign Minister Abdula Shahid said that in the current situation we are facing the Corona epidemic. For this reason, it is not the right time for SAARC Council.
