Adherence to lockdown rules
Badrinath (Uttarakhand) – The doors of Shri Badrinath Temple were opened here on 15th May at 4.30 a.m. with the recital of Vedic mantras. The ritual of opening the doors had started from 3 a.m. A special pooja was performed by Rawal IshwarPrasad Namboodari. After opening the door, Goddess Lakshmi’s murti-sthapana was done in the temple within the premises. Abhishek of Deity Shri Badrinath was performed with sesame oil. The door is opened every year in the presence of thousands of devotees; however, this year only 28 people were present when the door was opened due to the lockdown. Everyone was wearing a mask and social distancing was observed. The temple is closed for six months in winter every year and then it is reopened by performing rituals.
