Shrikrushna was a Muslim who offered namaz five times a day: Maulana Jerjis Ansari

Maulana Jerjis Ansari’s outrageous claim

Maulana Jerjis Ansari while delivering his speech

Ranchi (Jharkhand): A video circulating on social media reveals Maulana Jerjis Ansari claiming that Shrikrushna was actually a Muslim and offered namaz five times a day. The remarks have drawn criticism from Hindu organisations, which have demanded his arrest. The video is said to be from a religious gathering in Jharkhand held on 23rd June, 2026. Maulana Jerjis, a resident of Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh, has made controversial statements in the past as well. (Why was strict action not taken against him when he made controversial remarks earlier? Had action been taken then, he may not have dared to make such statements today. Will action be taken against him at least now? – Editor)

Misrepresentation of a verse from the Shrimadbhagawadgeeta

In his speech, Maulana Ansari cited a verse from the Shrimadbhagawadgeeta in an attempt to substantiate his claim. Referring to Verse 10 of Chapter 6 (योगी युञ्जीत सततमात्मानं रहसि स्थितः । एकाकी यतचित्तात्मा निराशीरपरिग्रहः |), he claimed that the verse instructs devotees to offer prayers with their entire body, similar to namaz. He further asserted, ‘If Hindus read their scriptures carefully, they will realise that Islam is the universal religion. The same is stated in scriptures associated with Shriram and Shrikrushna.

What the verse conveys

The verse teaches that a yogi should constantly devote the mind, body, and soul to God, remain in seclusion, exercise control over the mind and senses, and stay free from material desires and attachments. It makes no mention of ‘namaz’ or ‘Islam’. Instead, it explains the path to God-realisation through meditation and yoga.

‘The Maulana should unconditionally apologise to the entire Hindu community’ – Mahendra Pratap Singh, litigant in the Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi case

Mahendra Pratap Singh, a litigant in the Shrikrushna Janmabhoomi case, strongly condemned Maulana Jerjis Ansari’s remarks, calling them a direct affront to the faith of the Hindu community. He said that while Islam’s history dates back about 1,400 years, Shrikrushna incarnated around 5,000 years ago. Singh further asserted that the Maulana has no knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita or its teachings, and demanded that he issue an unconditional apology to the entire Hindu community for his highly objectionable and controversial remarks.

‘Send the Maulana to Pakistan’ – Dinesh Falahari, President of the Shrikrushna Janmasangharsh Nyas

Dinesh Falahari, President of the Shrikrushna Janmasangharsh Nyas, criticised the Maulana’s remarks, saying that Shrikrushna incarnated 5,000 years ago and that the Maulana’s ancestors, too, followed Sanatan Dharma. He added that those who make such objectionable remarks about Hindu deities should immediately be sent to Pakistan.

The video may be part of a larger conspiracy – Manish Shukla, BJP leader

BJP leader Manish Shukla expressed suspicion that the controversial remarks could be part of a larger and deeper conspiracy. He called for a thorough investigation into the matter and demanded that a criminal case be registered in Jharkhand and strict legal action be taken.
