SBI employee controversy Mumbai

Mumbai – A case alleging Islamic religious conversion has come to light at the Backbay Reclamation branch of the State Bank of India, located in Nariman Point, one of Mumbai’s major commercial and business districts. The husband of a female Hindu employee working there has alleged that attempts were being made to convert her to Islam. The husband submitted a written complaint to SBI’s senior manager, Prakash Bharti. Additionally, after the victim’s husband filed a complaint in Sukher, his native village in Udaipur district of Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Police registered a case. During a conversation between Sanatan Prabhat and Sukher Police Inspector Bharat Yogi, it emerged that the matter was a case of Love Jihad. The Police have registered a case against the woman, as well as SBI employees Mohammad Adil and Safin Godal. It is now being said that this incident is similar to the recently exposed corporate jihad scandal involving TCS.

Sanatan Prabhat possesses copies of the First Information Report (FIR), as well as the letter written by the husband to the SBI.

Timeline of Events

– 2020–2022: Alleged exploitation by Adil

– March 30: Family taken to Rajasthan

– April 18: Alleged abduction

– May 2026: FIR registered

In his complaint to the Police, the victim’s husband stated,

1. Over the past year, he noticed a sudden and unusual change in his wife’s behaviour. She began following Islamic customs and practices. Along with this, she started reading Islamic religious texts, observing roza (fasts), and adopting Islamic attire (hijab).

2. Around two months ago, she informed him that she was in a romantic relationship with Safin Abdulkadar Godal, an employee of the SBI. She also expressed her intention to convert to Islam along with their eight-year-old daughter.

3. Considering the seriousness of the situation, on 30 March, he brought both his wife and daughter to his native village, Sukher, in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district.

4. However, on 18 April, Safin abducted his wife and daughter. Since then, there has been no information about their whereabouts. He is certain that his wife is under immense pressure.

5. Earlier, during the period from 2020 to 2022, another SBI employee, Mohammad Adil, had financially defrauded her and sexually exploited her. At that time, she had also become pregnant. Later, he arranged for her abortion.

6. He believes that Adil and Safin are part of a larger conspiracy to lure Hindu women into romantic relationships and convert them. He suspects that both may be connected to a major Islamic organisation.

7. At present, he is unable even to return to Mumbai for work. Both Mohammad and Safin have threatened to kill him on multiple occasions.

Editorial Perspective

  • This is an example of how highly educated Muslims in corporate offices allegedly target Hindu girls and women. Such incidents occurring in a country where Hindus are the majority are shameful for Hindus.
  • Would it be inappropriate if anybody argues that Hindu women employees should remain cautious around Muslim co-workers in workplaces?
  • The widespread conversion of Hindus is primarily due to the lack of education on Dharma among Hindus. Hindus should introspect and consider whether such incidents ever occur in relation to female Muslim employees in the same manner.
