Do not come to meet us until justice is delivered, avoid token visits; Nasrapur case victim’s father says

  • Father of 4-year-old victim appeals to politicians

  • Demands death penalty for the accused

Pune (Maharashtra) – In Nasrapur village of Bhor taluka in Pune, a 4-year-old girl was brutally assaulted and murdered. Following the incident, several political leaders visited the victim’s family to offer condolences. However, the victim’s father has now decided not to meet any political leaders. He stated that until his daughter receives justice, no political figures should visit their family. The accused, Bhimrao Kamble, has been remanded to Police custody until 7 May.

The father expressed anguish that political leaders come, take photographs, and use the situation for their own political gain, but do not take concrete steps to ensure justice for the victim. Therefore, he urged them to avoid such showy visits.

SIT formed to investigate the incident

The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising six members, including two women Police officers.

The victim’s father reiterated that he would not meet any leader until justice is served. The incident has been taken seriously by the Chief Minister, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also spoke with Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Gill over the phone regarding the matter.

The accused confesses to the crime

According to the police, the accused lured the child to a cowshed by saying he would show her a newborn calf. There, he assaulted her and later killed her to destroy evidence. The accused reportedly admitted the crime during the preliminary investigation. Police also stated that he had a history of inappropriate behaviour toward young girls.

Editorial Perspective

The incident reflects a growing lack of public trust in politicians. There is a perception among people that leaders visit victims’ families more for publicity than genuine support. If those entrusted with safeguarding democracy themselves contribute to such erosion of trust, it is deeply concerning.
