Khalistani threat to Canada’s national security : Canadian intel report

Report claims espionage by China, Russia and India

Ottawa (Canada) – Canada’s National Security Intelligence Service has submitted its annual report for the year 2025 to Parliament. The report acknowledges that Khalistani elements pose a threat to Canada’s security. The report also claims that China, Russia and India have interfered in Canada’s internal politics through espionage.

The report states,

1. Khalistanis fueling violence

The movements of active Khalistani elements in Canada continue to fuel a violent extremist agenda. Last year marked the 40th anniversary of the bombing of Air India Flight 182. The suspects in the case were members of a Canada-based Khalistani terrorist group. It is considered the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history, killing 329 people, most of them Canadian citizens.

2. Activities of extremist groups pose a security threat

The activities of terrorist groups continue to pose a threat to Canada’s national security and interests. Some of these individuals use Canadian institutions to advance their violent agendas and raise funds from the community. This money is then used to carry out violent acts.

3. Accusations against China, Russia, India, Iran, Pakistan etc.

In the changing global situation, China, Russia, India, Iran, Pakistan and some other countries are trying to interfere in Canadian politics.

India has established ties with Canadian leaders, journalists, and communities of Indian origin, which has led to a situation of cross-border repression in Canada. The aim is to suppress criticism of the Indian government and create fear in the community.

4. India-Canada relations improved after Carney became Prime Minister

After Prime Minister Mark Carney took office, Canadian officials have said that India is not currently involved in any violent crime or threat on Canadian soil. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Chief Mike Duhem also clarified that there is no proven direct threat to Canada from any foreign actors.
