Apology issued after strong backlash from citizens

Kathmandu (Nepal) – Following the formation of a new government under Balen Shah, incidents perceived as anti-India have come to light. Recently, Nepal Airlines published a map that incorrectly depicted the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan, and Northeast India as part of China.

The map was reportedly intended to showcase the airline’s global flight network, but it sparked outrage for misrepresenting Indian territory. Citizens strongly objected to this depiction, forcing the airline to issue a clarification and apology.

On April 29th, Nepal Airlines posted the map on its official X (formerly Twitter) account. The post quickly drew widespread criticism. Thousands of users reacted using hashtags like #NepalAirlines and #JammuKashmir, calling the act “anti-India,” “deliberate misconduct,” and even “provocative.”

In response to the backlash, Nepal Airlines issued a public apology, stating that they sincerely regret the error in their “flight network map.” They acknowledged serious inaccuracies regarding international boundaries and clarified that these do not reflect the official stance of either the airline or the Government of Nepal.

Against this backdrop, the flight network map released by Nepal Airlines is shocking. This does not appear to be a mere ‘design error,’ but a serious and sensitive issue. At a time when India remains Nepal’s largest and most trusted partner, such negligence by a national airline is completely unacceptable. This is not just a map; it sends a message that raises many serious questions.”
