Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka) – A local Muslim man identified as Farooq has lodged a complaint objecting to the sound of bhajans, cymbals and temple bells at the Ishwara Temple in Hale Uppalli village of the district. He claimed that the noise from the temple, located directly opposite his house, was causing disturbance. He also called the police, demanding that the bhajans be stopped.

An argument reportedly took place in the presence of the police. Farooq demanded that the loudspeaker installed at the temple be completely shut down. The temple priest and members of the management committee opposed the demand, stating that it would interfere with religious activities.

The police stated that they are verifying the sound levels of the loudspeaker. They added that instructions have been given to the priest to ensure that the volume remains within permissible limits and does not cause inconvenience to nearby residents. The police are currently attempting to mediate between both sides.

Editorial Perspective

For those who claim to be disturbed by the sound of bhajans, cymbals and temple bells, a separate nation was created 78 years ago. The time has come to state openly that such individuals may choose to relocate there.
