Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi – The Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha was to be discussed on the morning of February 2nd; however, instead of saying anything on the matter, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of Chinese troops infiltrating into the Indian territory. Rahul Gandhi claimed that ‘4 Chinese tanks had entered Indian territory in Doklam’. He gave reference to an unpublished book by retired Army Chief Manoj Naravane. This was strongly opposed by the ruling party, citing the rules of Parliament. Due to this, the proceedings were adjourned first till 12 noon, then till 4 p.m. and subsequently for the day.

Don’t break the decorum of the House : Lok Sabha Speaker warns Rahul Gandhi

Gandhi said that Naravane’s book mentions that ‘China has infiltrated into Indian territory at Doklam.’ Immediately, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asked, ‘How can you read an unpublished book in the House ?’ Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, ‘Even if it is published, quoting from any book unrelated to House proceedings is not allowed. You should not break the decorum of the House.’ To this, Gandhi replied, ‘This book is 100% Naravane’s and it is official.’ (Rahul Gandhi does not even know how to respond to the statement of the Lok Sabha Speaker. This is why Gandhi is being called childish – Editor). The ruling party opposed this. Home Minister Amit Shah and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also objected to this. The proceedings were adjourned as Gandhi kept saying the same thing repeatedly.

Rahul Gandhi is breaking the House rules : Rajnath Singh

When the proceedings resumed in the afternoon, Gandhi raised the same issue. On this, the Defence Minister said that if Manoj Naravane’s autobiography was not published, there must be some reason behind it. If someone is obstructing the publication of the autobiography without a valid reason, then Naravane can get the book published by getting a Court order. Why didn’t he do that ? How is an unpublished book being mentioned in Parliament ? Rahul Gandhi is breaking the House rules.
