Trump Criticizes Canada for Opposing ‘Golden Dome’ Missile Project and Cozying Up to China

Washington DC (USA) / Ottawa (Canada) – “Canada is befriending China instead of us, and they will be devastated in the first year. China will swallow Canada within a year. Canada poses a threat to North American security,” said US President Donald Trump. Trump made this statement after Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney opposed Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ missile project, which reportedly displeased him.

1. Prime Minister Carney visited China from January 13 to 17 and signed trade deals that included reducing tariffs on Canadian agricultural products and setting quotas for Chinese electric vehicles. On January 20 in Davos, Switzerland, Carney stated that the US-led global order had effectively ended.

2. Reacting in Davos, Trump criticized Carney, saying that Canada receives huge benefits from the US and should be grateful. “Canada survives because of America. Remember this, Mark, next time you speak,” Trump directly told him.

3. On January 22, Carney responded that Canada and the US have excellent cooperation in economy and security; however, Canada does not survive because of the US. Canada prospers because it is Canadian.

Trump reportedly wants to make Canada the 51st US state

Trump has repeatedly spoken about making Canada the 51^st state of the United States. Carney met Trump at the White House in May last year, where he clearly told Trump, “Canada is not for sale.”
