‘At Jawaharlal Nehru University, the graves of Modi–Shah will be dug’ slogans raised

  • Protests at JNU by students after denial of bail to anti-national Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam

New Delhi – A video has surfaced from Jawaharlal Nehru University here, infamous for anti-national incidents. In the video, some students are seen raising provocative slogans stating that the graves of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be dug on JNU land. These students are reportedly protesting against the denial of bail to Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam.

1. Based on this 35-second video circulated on social media, student organisations, as well as Congress, have come out in support of the students.

2. Student organisation president Aditi Mishra stated that every year students hold protests to condemn the violence that occurred on 5 January 2020 on the University campus. All slogans were ideological and were not personal attacks on anyone. They were not directed at anyone in particular. (Would even a snivelling child believe this statement of Mishra – Editor)

3. On the slogans, Congress leader Udit Raj said that this was a way of expressing anger. This is being done in support of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam because they are Muslims.

What happened on 5 January 2020 ?

On this day, violence had erupted at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Some masked individuals targeted students in three hostels of the University. They attacked them using sticks, stones, and iron rods. At least 28 people were injured in the incident. Delhi Police were accused of not taking action against the perpetrators of the violence.

In connection with the Delhi riots that occurred during the same period, Sharjeel Imam has been in custody since 28 January, and Umar Khalid since 13 September 2020. The Supreme Court rejected the bail pleas of both on 5 January 2025.

  • If this is so, then in the year 2020, in the very same Delhi, when BJP leaders Anurag Thakur and Kapil Mishra said ‘shoot the anti-national elements’, was that not also a way of expressing anger? Why did Congress then move heaven and earth demanding their arrest? Take note of this convenient double standard of Congress.
  • The public is now asking why the Government has still not shut down this University, which has turned into a hub of anti-national activity.
