Image of a Shivalinga on Kerala government’s ‘Suvarna Keralam’ lottery ticket !

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – A major controversy has erupted in the state over the image of a Shivalingaprinted on the Kerala government’s ‘Suvarna Keralam’ (SK-34) lottery ticket. Hindu organizations have alleged that the Shivalinga is shown with menstrual blood flowing over it. Hindu organizations and the BJP have strongly condemned the incident, stating that it hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus. The image, taken from the collection of the Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi, is said to insult Hindu beliefs.

1.In this matter, the state president of ‘Hindu Aikya Vedi’, R. V. Babu, has filed a complaint with the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner.
2.R. V. Babu and BJP state general secretary and advocate S. Suresh stated that the image on the lottery ticket of the ‘SK-34’ series shows a Shivalinga, a three-petalled lotus, and dripping red color. It allegedly depicts obscenity, as if menstrual blood is being offered to the deity.

3.R. V. Babu accused the Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala of continuously insulting Hindu beliefs. He warned that if the Hindu community does not awaken, it will suffer harm.
Advocate S. Suresh said that the time has come to stop the repeated attacks on Hindu religious beliefs by the communist government in Kerala.
4.The controversy has spread rapidly on social media, with many political and religious leaders reacting to it. Many have demanded a boycott of the controversial lottery tickets and even called for them to be burned.
5.The Director of the Kerala State Lottery Department stated that the matter has been taken note of and an investigation is underway.
