Lakshmanpuri (Uttar Pradesh) – The Uttar Pradesh administration is taking steps to restore historical sites to their original form. In this direction, Fazilnagar in Kushinagar district will be renamed Pawanagari, as announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The site associated with Bhagwan Mahavir’s Mahaparinirvana !
The Chief Minister said that although Bhagwan Mahavir was born in Vaishali, Bihar, his Mahaparinirvana took place at Fazilnagar in Uttar Pradesh. Fazilnagar is mentioned as Pavagad in ancient texts. Hence, the decision has been taken to restore this ancient identity. The renaming process has begun and the official procedure will be completed soon.
