Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – Santosh Verma, a senior administrative officer in Madhya Pradesh and the State president of Ajaks (Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Employees Association), sparked controversy with a blatantly caste-centred statement during a programme of the organisation.
He said, “Reservation must continue until my son marries a Brahmin girl or the Brahmin community gives their daughter to my son as charity.” After strong criticism, Verma has now expressed regret over his remarks.
Several social organisations and employee associations have demanded strict action against him. Following the uproar, old cases involving Verma have resurfaced.

Three months in prison in a fake documents case
A case of assault had earlier been registered against him at Lasudiya Police Station in Indore based on a complaint by a woman. In an attempt to prove himself innocent in that case, Verma had used a document bearing a judge’s signature, which was later found to be forged during investigation.
He was arrested in this matter and had spent three months in prison.
