New Delhi – Links have emerged between Dr Shaheen, who played a key role in a jihadi doctors’ terror module, and Tablighi Jamaat. Dr Shaheen was receiving funds from Tablighi Jamaat to carry out terrorist activities. Investigators have revealed that explosives used for making bombs were purchased using this money. Following this discovery, orders have been issued for Tablighi Jamaat to submit the name, address, mobile number, and photograph of every individual associated with it to the Intelligence Bureau and the Anti-Terrorism Squad. Before the pandemic, similar surveillance was also maintained; however, it had slackened later.
Over the past seven years, transactions worth ₹1.55 crore have taken place in Dr Shaheen’s seven bank accounts. These include transfers of ₹9 lakh in 2014, ₹6 lakh in 2015, ₹11 lakh in 2016 and ₹19 lakh in 2017. Investigations are underway to determine to whom this money was sent and from whom it was received.
During the investigation into the terrorists, 25 to 30 mobile numbers were found, all of which are switched off. The terror network is believed to extend to Srinagar, Pahalgam, Pathankot, Delhi, Saharanpur, Hapur, Moradabad, Bijnor, as well as Dubai and Oman. Terrorists had participated secretly in meetings at these locations. Intelligence agencies have also obtained information about certain organisations based in Islamic countries, and inquiries into their accounts are ongoing.
Tablighi Jamaat gave ‘zakat’ funds to terrorists!
Tablighi Jamaat receives money through ‘zakat’ (the Islamic practice of donating a portion of one’s wealth for charitable purposes). It has come to light that these very funds were given by Tablighi Jamaat to Dr Shaheen.
Editorial PerspectiveTablighi Jamaat must now be declared a terrorist organisation and banned in India. Even during the pandemic, this organisation had faced allegations of spreading coronavirus. |
