Garland of slippers worn around the idol of Shri Ganesh

Hassan (Karnataka) – While the stone-pelting incident during the Ganeshotsav procession in Madduru was still fresh, an incident of garlanding the idol of Shri Ganesh with slippers took place in Belur town of Hassan District. The garland of slippers was placed on the Shri Varasiddhi Vinayak Ganesh idol located in the municipal area. Tension arose here when devotees who had gone to the temple for darshan in the morning witnessed this incident. Hindu organizations have condemned this incident. They have also warned of a strong agitation if immediate action is not taken against the social miscreants.
