Violent Protesters Topple Govt in Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal) – There is an anarchical situation in Nepal. Thousands of young men resorted to violence and arson in the Parliament, the Supreme Court and the houses of the Prime Minister and other ministers. Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, his wife, who was the foreign minister and the finance minister of Nepal, were brutally thrashed by the mob as was seen in the videos. All 42 MPs have tendered resignations. After giving up his post, PM K P Sharma Oli has left Nepal. ‘Gen Z (people born between 1996 to 2010)’ mob protesting against corruption and ban on social media has toppled the Government. The arson started on the morning of 09.09.2025. Thousands of young people took to the roads and started rioting on the roads in Kathmandu. The army had to be called as the situation went out of control.

Series of events –

1. The agitations started on 08.09.2025 when more than 12,000 youth took to the roads and protested. Police firing led to the death of more than 20 youth, while more than 300 people were injured, as per the reports.

2. In the morning of 09.09.2025, therefore, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung announced the lifting of a ban on social media.

3. The demonstrators, however, again came on the roads in the morning of 09.09.2025. They were enraged due to the action taken by the Police on the previous day. All protesters were demanding the resignation of PM Oli.

4. The Army was called in as the situation was getting beyond control. At one time, a few young men were seen lying down in front of the army’s truck.

Nepal moves towards dictatorship from democracy – Agriculture and Livestock development Minister

Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development Ram Nath Adhikari stated while tendering his resignation that citizens have every right to question democracy and stage peaceful demonstrations. Instead of acknowledging it, however, they were given answers with mass oppression, killings and force. The country is, therefore, moving towards dictatorship instead of democracy.

As per the information given by local media, he has done many things for people as a mayor, which improved the administration in the capital city. His ‘clean’ image and his strong stand against corruption have made him popular among the young generation. In 2023, he was included in the list of 100 emerging leaders by ‘Times’ magazine of the USA.
