Maulavi Rapes a Five-year-old Girl in a Mosque in Belagavi (Karnataka)

Belagavi (Karnataka) – Two years ago, a lustful maulavi dragged a five-year-old girl to a mosque and raped her. This information was posted on ‘X’ by Puneeth Kerehalli, a devout Hindu leader. Police, however, acted promptly and arrested the maulavi.

The incident occurred under the Murgod Police station in the district about two years ago, where the maulavi had raped the minor girl. The incident was recorded on CCTV, but out of fear about the girl’s future and social reputation, the family of the victim didn’t complain.

Later, the helpless father of the girl called up Mr Puneeth Kerehalli and narrated the whole incident. Mr Kerehalli posted the incident and its footage on his ‘X’ account. Then, the Police took down the complaint from the aggrieved family and took action.

• Belagavi Police deserve praise for their prompt action. But the Police should also consider the fact that the aggrieved family thought of informing the matter to a devout Hindu leader, instead of the Police.
• It has been observed that the media eager to malign Hindu Saints, always keep mum about such incidents, which shows that they are not bothered about girls’ modesty. Such media needs to be condemned.
