(Hijab is used by Muslim women to cover their heads and neck)

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – Religious fanatics went on rampage for not allowing Muslim girl students to wear ‘Hijab’ during examinations as they entered the office of the principal of the P. E. S. College on 30.06.2025 in the afternoon. Dr Abhijit Wadekar has lodged a complaint in this context at Chhavani Police Station.
It has been stated in the complaint –
1. A gang of people posing as the office bearers of MIM Students’ Organisation, entered the office of the principal and asked why girl students were not allowed to wear ‘Hijab’.
2. The office bearers referred to former MP Imtiyaz Jalil while talking and threatened the principal.
3. The principal contacted Imtiyaz Jalil when he disowned everything and explained that he was in no way involved in this incident and he had not sent anyone to the college.
4. Later, Principal Wadekar submitted CCTV recordings while filing a complaint with Chhavani Police Station.
5. He has demanded filing of cases against the concerned students for causing obstacles in carrying out Government duty, threatening etc.
On inquiry with Police Thanedar Vivek Jadhav, he informed that the application has been received but no case has yet been filed.
Editorial PerspectiveAre Police under pressure that they are not registering a case despite the principal lodging a complaint ? Had a similar incident happened with Hindus in place of fanatics, Police would have filed cases on their own. Everyone wonders – Why do Police always become submissive in front of fanatics. |
