Criminals came on a bike, looted Varkaris using a sickle

Daund (Dist. Pune) – For the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, the palkhis have set off towards Pandharpur. Lakhs of Varkaris are walking towards Pandharpur to have darshan of Deity Vitthal while chanting ‘Mauli Mauli’. Amid all this, incidents of theft of valuables, mobile phones, and wallets of Varkaris are also taking place. Shockingly, an incident of sexual abuse of a minor girl has taken place at Swami Chincholi in Daund taluka.

While on their way to Pandharpur, some Varkaris stopped for tea. After having tea, while they were sitting in the car, 2 unknown persons came on a two-wheeler. They threatened the Varkaris with a sickle and robbed them. Later they abducted the minor girl and took her away to sexually abuse her. A case has been registered at Daund Police station. The Police are searching for the culprits.

Regarding this, Supriya Sule, MP from the Sharad Chandra Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party, said, “This is a very shocking incident. Crime is increasing in Pune city. I have raised my voice against it many times. I have spoken to the Police Commissioner. The accused will be arrested soon.”

Editorial Perspective

It is shameful for Hindus that such incidents happen during their pilgrimages in a Hindu majority country.
