Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Shahbaz Sharif

New Delhi – Pakistan and Turkey are attempting to weaken India on diplomatic, media, and ideological fronts through a strategic alliance. Based on shared Islamic ideology and geopolitical interests, this alliance has intensified its efforts following the Pahalgam terrorist attack and India’s Operation Sindoor. This information comes from a report published by the international organisation DisinfoLab.

The report reveals that the strategic partnership between Turkey and Pakistan is a well- coordinated campaign involving governments, media, NGOs, and legal mechanisms to undermine India’s global image and question its policies at the international level.

Key findings from the report :

1. High-level talks : Within a month of the Pahalgam attack, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan twice, indicating strengthening ties between the two nations.

2. Media collaboration : Turkish state media outlets like TRT World and Anadolu Agency are at the forefront of anti-India propaganda. Interestingly, TRT World employs over 50 Pakistani nationals, facilitating the continuous dissemination of Pakistan-leaning content.

3. NGO network : Turkish organisations such as the Turkey Youth Foundation and İnsani Yardım Vakfı Foundation, which are reportedly linked to President Erdogan’s family, have played a significant role in strengthening anti-India narratives. These organisations are also suspected of having links to jihadi terrorist groups.

4. Propaganda campaigns : Organised efforts are being made to internationalise the Kashmir issue. A Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS)-style movement—similar to that used against Israel—is being promoted against India. A prominent example of this is the ‘Russell Tribunal on Kashmir’ held in Sarajevo.

5. Legal warfare : Stoke White, a UK-based legal firm led by Turkish national Hakan Camuz, is accusing Indian officials of human rights violations in Kashmir. These efforts are coordinated with Pakistan-based organisations like the Legal Forum for Oppressed Voices of Kashmir.

6. Social media manipulation : Fake social media accounts, posing as members of Arab royal families, are being used to spread false claims of rising Islamophobia in India.
