EAM S Jaishankar held talks with the US President’s advisors for the first time after import tariffs

New DelhiThe negative effects of the US import tariffs are being seen all over the world. For the first time after the 26 per cent tariff was imposed on India, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar held talks with US Secretary of State and President Donald Trump’s chief international relations advisor Marco Rubio.

1. Dr Jaishankar, giving this information on X, said that in this discussion, both sides agreed to complete the India-US bilateral trade agreement as soon as possible. During this time, we had a dialogue about the Indian subcontinent, Indo-Pacific, Middle East Asia, and the Caribbean (island countries near America). Both sides also agreed to materialise the bilateral trade agreement as soon as possible.

2. After the US imposed a 26 per cent trade tax on India, India is exploring other markets. Steps are being taken to expand free trade talks with the European Union, Britain, New Zealand and Oman.
