Dispute over Shivalinga happened 15 years ago as well
Jaunpur (UP) – A dispute over a Shivalinga found in a graveyard in the Mulla Tola area of Jaunpur city led to heavy Police deployment in the area. Special efforts were made during this period to maintain peace from both sides. Locals said that a similar dispute had occurred 15 years ago, which was resolved amicably.
1. Radheyshyam, a resident of Mulla Tola, said that the dispute started over a Shivalinga that appeared under a peepal tree. Since then, no permanent fencing has been installed at the site.
2. Abdul Kalam said that an agreement was made in the presence of Maulana Zafar Ahmed Siddiqui, the Imam of the Shahi Eidgah (one who leads prayers in a mosque). The agreement was regarding the boundaries of the Shivalinga. It was decided by consensus that no permanent construction would be allowed at the site. Anyone who wants to worship by offering water could do so, with no restrictions. The Shivalinga would remain in its current state.
