UP CM Yogi Adityanath extends indirect support for Allahabad HC Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav without explicitly naming him
Laxmanpuri (Uttar Pradesh) – Allahabad High Court Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav recently remarked that “there should be a uniform civil code, and the sentiments of the majority community must be respected under all circumstances.” Following his statement, opposition parties have filed an impeachment notice against him, alleging his remarks were unconstitutional.
Responding to the controversy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath voiced his support for Justice Yadav without naming him. The Chief Minister accused the opposition of attempting to stifle the Constitution by silencing individuals who speak the truth. Justice Yadav had made these remarks during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad program held in the High Court auditorium, asserting that “the country will operate based on the views of the majority.” This statement sparked calls from opposition leaders for his impeachment in Parliament.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath further remarked that those opposing Justice Yadav’s statement claim to be champions of democracy, yet their actions are fundamentally undemocratic. “They are not ashamed of their hypocrisy,” he added, emphasizing the contradiction between their words and actions.
